Mr Stephen Brennan
MB CHB MRCS FRCS
Qualification and training
Mr Brennan attained a BSc (Pharm) in 1996 and graduated from the University of Aberdeen Medical School. He achieved a membership from the Royal College of Surgeons in 2005, MRCS and Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons, FRCS in 2010. He has been a consultant General Surgeon for over 10 years and is fully accredited on the UK General Medical Council Specialist Register in General Surgery. Mr Brennan completed a post CCT laparoscopic fellowship at the renowned Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford under a world expert surgeon.
Mr Brennan is an experienced NHS and private surgeon with over 20 years of surgical experience. Mr Brennan is a traditional general surgeon with broad based training in general surgery. He has had extensive emergency general surgery training and has been supported with training in vascular , cardiothoraicic , upper GI and hepatobiliary surgery. Mr Brennan has had 2 years of specialist colorectal training including the laparoscopic rectal unit in Scotland and was employed as a colorectal consultant briefly in Scotland before he relocated to London.
Dr Ian Lambert - Anaesthetist
Mr Brennan uses expert anaesthetist Dr Ian Lambert on a regular weekly basis. Dr Lambert is a specialist high risk anaesthetist who manages all of the complex high risk cases in Mr Brennan’s NHS Trust at Croydon University Hospital. Dr Lambert has specialist experience in managing high risk cases with very good outcomes.
Matt Smith - Surgical Assistant
Matt Smith is my surgical assistant and right hand man in all of my private practice. He plays an essential part in my operating theatre. Matt is a registered operating department practitioner (ODP) and an advanced aesthetic practitioner. Matt has 30 years’ experience working in the NHS in orthopaedic and general surgery. He is a registered first surgical assistant and has completed the Royal College of Surgeons basic surgical skills course. Matt is unique as he is an associate member of the Royal College of Surgeons. There are only 2 people in the country who have this qualification.
Diane - Lead Scrub Nurse
Diane is our main theatre scrub nurse. At Shirley oaks hospital Diane is our main scrub nurse and is chosen specifically for all Mr Brennans complex or difficult cases.
Diane is highly experienced with laparoscopic surgery and is a pleasure to work with.
Caroline Godfrey - Personal Assistant and Secretary
Mr Brennan’s private practice is organised and managed by practice manager Caroline Godfrey. Caroline is Mr Brennan’s personal assistant and secretary who coordinates all of his private practice bookings and secretarial support. She is the first port of call for all enquiries to Mr Brennan’s surgical practice.
